Project Officer Survival – Helping Keep Officers Alive

War HOGG Tactical Project Officer Survival Program
In 2020, War HOGG Tactical established the Project Officer Survival program to address the underfunded firearms training needs of a lot of departments in law enforcement community. Project Officer Survival mission is to provide FREE law enforcement red dot pistol firearms training, powered by the support from our firearms industry partners, to increase officer survivability and marksmanship skills at no cost to individual officers.
To date Project Officer Survival has trained over 700 law enforcement officers, with 5 officers directly correlated their training during a Project Officer Survival course to them surviving their deadly force encounter.
Removing the Training Barrier
With red dot optics becoming more common on law enforcement duty pistols we wanted to provide an option so all officers could receive the training, even if their agency has not transitioned to a red dot optic. We also remove the financial burden by offering FREE 1-day law enforcement red dot pistol training.
Project Officer Survival provides the Walther Performance Duty Pistol (PDP) Professional with the dynamic performance trigger, topped with an Aimpoint ACRO enclosed red dot sight. Coming out of a Safariland level III retention holster with quick locking systems (QLS) for those officers with a QLS on their duty belts for an easy holster swap during the training course. By providing the equipment, this removes any training barriers for those departments who have not switched to a red dot pistol platform. Officers do not need to be red dot transitioned to attend this course.
By using the Walther pistols during the course, Project Officer Survival has the ability to size each officer’s hand to the pistol, verses the classic “one size fits all” when it comes to most department issued duty pistol. There are 3 different Walther pistol frame sizes, full size, compact and the F-series. A lot of our law enforcement officer students have commented how they did not realize how they were compensating for a duty pistol that did not fit their hand.
Each officer will also receive a copy of The Firearms Training Notebook to record their shooting performance data during the course. The officer can see an increase in their marksmanship proficiency, gun handling skills, and areas the officer need to work on after the course. This invaluable tool allows them to make notes during the course on things they learn during each shooting drill. This will help them to build both a live and dry fire training program when they return home.
